The Tamron SP 70-200 mm f/2.8 Di VC USD complements this lens well in terms of focal length range. It’s a combination with which you’re perfectly prepared to go traveling—bright, reasonable compact (for lenses designed for full-frame) and solidly built. The shortest focal distance of less than a meter also makes great close-up shots possible.
So, if a 70-200mm f/2.8 is important to your photography, then out of literally all the full-frame systems around, mirrorless or DSLR, this Nikkor should be one of your top candidates. The autofocus system is the clear downside to this lens. Overall, and especially for the price, I'm very pleased with the image quality of the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di Macro Lens. My plan is to have both of those lenses, and I already have the 70-200mm/f2.8 Z. On the F mount, I also have the 70-200mm/f2.8 AF-S VR ii (but not the latest FL; hence I went for the Z version) and the 80-400. Since I shoot a lot of wildlife, the 80-400 and something even longer is very useful. To me, the 80-400 is a great lens for whale watching.
