Just had vw local dealer service my 2017 gti PP, (UK model) they filled engine with shell LL 0W-30, I was surprised as it has previously always had ll 5w-30 either castrol edge, or Shell equivalent fully synthetic.. I queried it and they said that was the current recommendation. I do have only 37000 miles and a vw extended warranty, all component.
TDI. 2012 Touareg TDI Executive. Dec 21, 2015. #11. Pull the dipstick and wipe on rag, Reinsert the dipstick, remove and wipe on rag, Continue until you have wiped enough on the rag to lower the level where the reduce oil level light does not come on. Stop dipping and wiping. Problem solved.
Found this on the garage floor. Oil level was ok. In the middle of the dipstick. View attachment 292661. Looked in the engine bay and couldn't really tell where the leak was. Normally have some from the oil cap, but it looked ok. View attachment 292662. Looked under the car and the oil pan is definitely wet.
Visual comparisons are hardly conclusive evidence. #1 Hello all. I just did the first oil change on my 2015 MK7 GTI. Here are some tips and observations: This is one of the easiest oil changes I've ever done. The main reason is the design of the oil pan's plastic drain plug. The plug is quite easy to remove, requiring just a medium flat head screwdriver and very little torque.
Interesting that the washer for the oil plug is more expensive than the plug itself !!! Also, I was charged for 4 units of Castro Edge oil even though it says that the oil comes in 208L bulk container (5W30 208L).

My regular garage says 4.6 Liters and another VW specialist garage says 4 liters max! The specialist says that oil should only be checked on a warm engine thats been sitting for at least 3 minutes.
The car was levelled and it was over flowing, so its full, but i thought there was a bigger oil capacity in that box. If anyone is changing their oil and they need a large allen key to open the gearbox drain and fill nut, its 17mm allen key to open it. Just so ye will know the size.
